What is solfege? and why my child should learn?

Writer's picture: LeannLeann

Solfege ( also called "solfeggio" or "solfa") is a musical language and a fundamental music education program that teaches how to listen, observe, and sing the songs. It is an important tool for musicians to train their ears.

Solfege is used worldwide. In many countries, letter names are not used. Instead, solfege syllables are used to name musical notes.

Instead of using A, B, C for the notes, Do, Re, Mi will be used.

Solfege is the practice of singing scales, intervals, and melodic exercises.

Once trained, you can listen to the harmony, rhythm, and melody by ear and help you write the music that you have created in your head.

Let's check in practice. In C major seven notes in the scale is C, D, E, F, G, A, B. If you sing this scale on solfege, do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti (si).

Students who are trained in solfege become involved in music actively and can enjoy music more specifically.
